more digi fun

Another digital layout using My Digital Studio. This paper is not beach themed, but I loved the colors, and thought it would make a nice page.

I am getting braver with digital layouts. If I can find more time to play around I think I could be really productive. Btw, Polka Dot Potato is having a clearance sale on digital items - they are closing their website. I found several digital paper kits and photoshop elements actions that were a great deal!

Digi-goodness

I am starting to enjoy digital scrapbooking. I haven't gotten brave enough to really splurge with papers, and embellies on a digital layout yet but I feel progress coming along ... slowly!

I found some photos on the computer that my son took -- probably an attempt to capture a good facebook shot! The photos are combined on one layout to show the many different "faces" of my son. LOL. I love the silliness of some of the pictures he took.

After printing, I double matted the layout on cardstock. Easy Peasy, fun and no mess!

Happy Independence Day!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday! It's been a wonderful to be off work for 4 days. We stayed close to home, but did enjoy a cookout with relatives one evening.

This really isn't a great layout, but the memories are recorded, and that's the real purpose. I hope you aren't too disappointed with today's share:

As always,

Summer traditions

Our family has been vacationing at the beach together for many years now. It's a week that I look forward to every year. There is nothing better than relaxing and enjoying the ocean, sand and each other.

I picked up some Bo Bunny papers at AC Moore the other week - not beach papers...these have photography designs on them...but I loved them and knew exactly which photos I wanted to use.

I especially like the "Life is Beautiful" sentiment. Yes. Yes it is.

Thanks for dropping by today. Until next time,

another card for Dad

Actually, this is grandpa's card. I used another retired stamp set that I just love because it's so vintage and masculine. The card is made to resemble a vintage photo album - it's a pretty neat design and I'm sure I copied it from somewhere but I can't remember where!

If you are local, our monthly GNO will be Friday night. It's just a great gathering of ladies who craft, or just want to get out of the house for a few hours. You can scrapbook, stamp, crochet, bead, sew (yes, some have brought their machines :), organize your coupons ... or just sit and chat. We have a nice time, and we'd love to have you join us. Message me for details ---> info in the side bar.

the cat drug me in...

Not really, but that's kind of how I feel after not blogging for soooo long. I hope you can overlook my absence. Our family went through a little change when I started working full-time, then a friend of my son's moved in for a few months (ok, 5 months) and by the time I found a new routine, there just wasn't much time for the ol' bloggity. I'm not promising that I will be posting as regularly as I once did considering "the job" takes up a good bit of my creative time, but I am testing the waters...

Today I have a Father's Day card to share that was quick and easy - I'm saving the more complicated card for the next post (you know, sort of like a cliffhanger ... teehee).

I used a retired stamp set from Stampin' Up and papers I had left over from another project. The main image is stamped in black, then Ranger Distress Inks were applied using felt. It made a nice Father's Day card for my husband today.

Saturday Sketch

Time for another Sketch It Saturday from Unscripted Sketches. This week my friend Keri Lee drew the sketch. She is an amazing crafter, please be sure to visit her Pink Lemonade blog ... right after you read my post and visit Unscripted, that is! Here is Keri Lee's sketch:

I wanted to make a layout of my son ... since he did just earn his black belt and I am a very proud mom. This layout is 100% digital. I'm beginning to enjoy making digital layouts.

I flipped the sketch and used three photos instead of one, but I kept them in a rectangle shape to stay true to the sketch. Thanks Keri for a great one this week!

Winter Post card

Today I have a digital share for you. It's a Christmas using the stamp set Winter Post ... and it's 100% digital. I used the Unscripted Sketch 29 for the basis of the card.

How so you like it? Winter Post is one of my very favorite stamp sets. I used My Digital Studio to make this.

How about a little Christmas Jingle?

I am attempting to learn how to make digital projects and want to share with you today, if you will indulge me just a bit. I'm trying to learn & improve my digital skills (or skillz, as the kids say) so I would really appreciate your feedback. I made this card based on the Unscripted Sketch #28. First, the sketch:

Now my attempt to build a completely digital card:

What do you think? Seriously, be honest, I really want to know. Ciao!

Sketch 28

Woo hoo! I'm getting my Christmas cards done one at a time! I've got to find some time to sit down for a marathon and finish up, but until then I'll be happy with any progress I make.

This week the sketch at Unscripted Sketches is awesome! As usual, I modified my project quite a bit, but thankfully the US gals encourage that (whew). First, here is the sketch:

Now, my interpretation ~ flipped and condensed :

I hope you can see the elements I used from the sketch ... the 3 embellishments on one side, and 1 on the opposite, the sticker across the bottom, the square frame, etc. I like this one so much I plan to make a few more.

Now for fun, I want to show you the base card cut using a Cricut machine:

Yep, plain Jane (no offense to Jane). It's amazing what a little paper piecing and a few well placed embellishments can do for a card's confidence. hehe.

Hop on over to Unscripted Sketches and give the sketch a try. Be sure to use Mr. Linky so we can check out your projects too!

Supplies: Crafty Secrets sentiment (clear stamp), SU cardstock, Basic Grey Figgy Pudding pattern paper, pearls, Cricut Winter Wonderland cartridge, Memento Cocoa ink.

Just for fun today

Snow storm

I shared a scrapbook page several posts back ... from a huge snow we got in March. Today, I'm using the same photo (plus a few more) in a digital layout. I hope it will show up ok because the background of the layout is white ... and uh, so is my blog. This is the first digital page I've made using the new My Digital Studio by Stampin' Up. I have to admit, I love this program waaayy more than I ever anticipated.

You can probably guess, but this is probably my all time favorite (so far) photo of my youngest son. There is something about the composition with the snowball and his face so focused that I just love ~ and my talented daughter was the photographer!

Thanks for looking today. I'll be back Saturday with Unscripted Sketches, and with a digital card middle of next week. Until then ...

Santa's watching ...

It's barely fall and I'm ready to make Christmas cards! This week's sketch at Unscripted Sketches was perfect for the images I wanted to use. Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

With virtually no stamping! Wow. I bought some yummie Christmas images from Crafty Secrets at the Heirloom Rubber Stamp show the other week. Their products have a gorgeous vintage flavor. I could have taken the entire booth home with me!

Supplies: Crafty Secrets images & clear stamps, Provocraft printed paper, SU Brushed Gold cardstock, Martha Stewart border punch, Stickles, Memento inks.

Peaceful Wishes

Friday is our monthly Girl's Night Out ~ when a wonderful, fun group of ladies gather to craft the night away! I will be bringing ALL the Christmas stamps I own, plus stamp pads for anyone who wants to get started on their holiday cards.

We will also have an optional make'n take card that is folded in a way that provides space for a photo and plenty of room for including a personal note too ... see below:

It's a dreary day outside, so the color is not quite "brilliant", but you get the idea. If you'd like to come to GNO, email me with the link in the side bar, or send me a facebook message. :)

Unscripted Gals blog hop

What fun we are having today with the Unscripted Sketches Gals. We are blog hopping! I hope you started at the beginning (because I'm the last on the hop), but if not, start with Alanna to make sure you don't miss anything ... then hop to your heart's content!

My card was made using a kit for 8x8 scrapbooks. It's called Almost Done Fun & Bright and is by Hot Off the Press. I found mine at Michael's when they were on sale. I like picking up little kits like these because everything is already coordinated, the embellishments are usually dimensional and the 8x8 size lends itself easily to making fun cards.

Several US gals are offering blog candy today, so I couldn't be different now could I? Take a lookie at what I have to offer ~ an unmounted stamp set, woo hoo! All you need to do is leave a comment on this post. I'll pick a random winner on Friday at midnight. The winner will be contacted and posted on next Saturday's post (Oct. 10). Make sure you leave your email, or that you are signed in so I can reach the winner.

Hope you enjoyed today's share and keep hopping until you visit all the US Gals ~ plus head over to Unscripted Sketches to play along with us. Remember to use Mr. Linky to share your sketch interpretation!
